Please know that Artspace has a professional company clean all our buildings’ common areas. They are paying special attention to doors, knobs, handrails and anything that is touched on a regular basis. In addition to this cleaning, our maintenance staff is cleaning these areas as well using a CDC-approved cleaning solution.

RESOURCES FOR INDIVIDUALS:
MEDICAID & CHIP ASSISTANCE
During the COVID-19 pandemic the state has waived premiums for the CHIP and Medicaid programs, meaning there is no monthly out of pocket cost for these programs and the cost of appointment copays are very low. Requirements for eligibility have also been updated. If you need help applying, the Utah Health Policy Project is providing remote assistance. Check their website for details.
RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Short-term rental assistance is available to Salt Lake County residents who have been impacted by COVID-19 because of job-related loss or reduction in household income.This short-term rental assistance program will assist those households who, despite applying for additional financial assistance, are still unable to pay rent. To see if you are eligible for Case Management & Housing assistance through Utah Community Action, please call 801.359.2444 to receive an assessment. Phone assessments can be given: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. If you do not reach a staff member, please leave a voicemail with your name and contact information and we will return your call within 2 business days. Walk-in appointments will no longer be accepted, please call to receive an assessment.
Utahns who receive unemployment benefits are now eligible to receive rental assistance from the pandemic housing assistance program. Renters can receive up to $2,000 a month from the program to pay for rent and utilities. The program helps renters whose income has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have a household income at or below the median income in their area. To learn more about eligibility and where to apply, renters should call 2-1-1 to find their local agency. The news release notes that callers should be aware that there may be wait times, or that they may need to leave a voicemail message so that staff can call them back.
UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS
The CARES Act is providing an emergency increase in traditional unemployment insurance benefits of $600 per week through July 31, 2020 while expanding unemployment benefits to include gig workers, independent contractors, freelancers, and self-employed individuals (source). Those with reduced hours may also be eligible for employment benefits. If you are questioning whether you qualify for unemployment benefits, you are encouraged to apply immediately. A new application process for self-employed, contract and gig workers will be available the week of April 13. Check the DWS website for details.

DEPARTMENT OF WORKFORCE SERVICES RESOURCES
$1,200 IRS ECONOMIC IMPACT PAYMENT
Starting mid-April, eligible taxpayers can receive a stimulus check of up to $1,200 for individuals or $2,400 for married couples, and an additional $500 for each child under 18. No action by most taxpayers is necessary to receive a rebate. In the majority of cases, the IRS will deposit payments into the direct deposit account taxpayers previously provided on their tax returns. If you need to provide your direct deposit information, as opposed to getting a check in the mail, the Treasury Department is working to create a web-based portal.

STUDENT LOAN DEBT RELIEF
To provide relief to student loan borrowers during the COVID-19 national emergency, federal student loan borrowers can be placed in an administrative forbearance, which allows you to temporarily stop making your monthly loan payment.
TIP YOUR SERVER PROGRAM
The goal of the ‘Tip Your Server’ Program is to provide $500 grants to employees of a Salt Lake City restaurant or bar who have been laid off due to the closures initiated as a result of the pandemic. Owners randomly selected from a list of approved restaurants will be contacted by the Utah Restaurant Association. Once contacted, those owners may submit up to five displaced workers to receive a $500 grant. Owners may select the workers based on their own criteria. Workers that have applied for unemployment are still eligible for this grant.
