August is American Artists Appreciation Month! We have so many great artists living and/or working in our buildings. We are lucky to be able to highlight just a few of them throughout the month.

Today, meet Tayler Cutrubus (@taysgreens). She holds regular plant swaps in our community. Learn more about her below, and give her some love by following her account and liking, commenting and sharing her posts!

"I love being a part of the Artspace community and the opportunities that present themselves from just living here.

I’ve been growing indoor houseplants for the last 7 or 8 years, and have come across a surprising amount of community interaction because of it!

A few years ago I started putting on Salt Lake City Plant Swaps, with the intention of having a small gathering for people to trade plant cuttings and socialize. It quickly gained popularity with the plant people of the valley, and now over 40-50 people normally show up with plants and personality in tow! Living in an Artspace building has provided a consistent space for me to have these gatherings, and it’s been so amazing to see the turn out.

I’ve met so many of my neighbors through this, and I’m very grateful.

At the moment I’ve got 180ish houseplants that I’m constantly propagating and giving away. Nothing makes me happier than connecting someone with a proper plant to suite their growing conditions. Most people think that they “kill all the plants” because they haven’t gotten the CORRECT plant for their environment. Being able to change perceptions about indoor plant growth is my favorite hobby."

Tayler would love to have YOU get involved with plant swaps, so be sure to follow her page to learn more! We will also be touring her space in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
